A while back, I remeber someone on the DC++ forum asking how they send messages to other users. The person had no trouble finding the ‘Private Message’ option when right clicking on a user so that wasn’t the issue. The issue was that the person could write messages but he/she had no idea on how to actually send them so other would see.
In most instant messaging programs, a ‘Send’ button is available. DC++ does not have one or anything that even resembles a ‘Send’ button. So, confusion is warrented if someone has only been accustomed to IM-programs that have ‘Send’ buttons.
At the time, the help file hadn’t been introduced – but a readme was available. And the readme had actually a documentation on how to send messages. This information is of course now in the help file. This is actually also documented it the changelog.
There are two ways to send a message. The first one, the one I assume that most are using, is simply to press ‘Enter’ on your keyboard. The second way, is the one that’s documented in the changelog and the helpfile; Alt-S.
Does anyone actually use Alt-S? I find it so much simpler to press ‘Enter’, but I don’t know what a new DC++ user or even a new computer user would think.
